We are the Keller family, Ryan and Krystle, and our two sons, Aiden and Jett. Our 20 acre farm lies amid the oak trees and atop the gravel beds on the south east side of DeWitt County. This December will mark 4 years since we decided to start our own small-scale, pasture-based farm. When we began we were far from experts in owning and operating a business, and even less experienced in raising animals for the production of meat. All we knew was that we wanted unadulterated food for ourselves. We figured if we were going to try and grow our own animals for meat, we may as well grow enough for those of you that also wanted it!
Being blessed by God, we have the responsibly to be the best stewards for our land and animals.
The products that we produce on our farm are grown and sold within our region. We feel at this time, feeding conventional feed that we can buy locally is in the best interest for us as the farmers, you as the customer, and the animals. Buying local will result in lower retail prices on certain meat products, give us the freedom to purchase feed when we need it and help support our local economy.
We believe the way we raise our animals out on pasture, free from the use of medicated feeds, antibiotics, hormones, chemical wormers or chemical fertilizers, etc. will more than make up for us not feeding organic/non-gmo feeds.
