Food stamps are a key way to address the nutritional needs of low-income Texas families, and one of the nation's most important defenses against hunger. In Texas, nearly half (42%) of those eligible for food stamps aren't receiving them. Millions of dollars set aside for food stamps go unspent each month.

Is my income over the limit? Use the table below to find the gross and net income limits for food stamp benefits. If your household has a person who is 60 or older or disabled, only the net income limit must be met. To determine the number of people in your household, the most important consideration is whether the people live together and share food expenses. If you live together, eat together, and share food costs, you are a household. If you don't share food costs, you are two households (or more), even if you live together.
